I will try this ut tomorrow when im noe with my maths.
If i figure it out i could do a quick video tuto for GIMP(i prefer video over writter becouse they are fool proof(as they are made by a fool ;) )).

Now you're confusing me and confusing you.
You generate a normal map with crazy bump, import it in photoshop or gimp, use red+green chanels to create a selection, paint that selection directly onto the blue channel.
Adjust brightness and contrast until you get a result similar to the one visible on the images in the tutorial.
