Patch meshes and terrain

If I am working on a fun, not-so-serious map, are patch meshes a good idea for terrain? (I assume that following FrankieV's terrain tutorial for 3dsmax is the best thing for a serious map.)

That is more pointed agains urt hd.
If you want players to be able to walk on it you should do patch meshes or brushes.
Id reccomand brushes tbh.
