Hmm, will you make the cave with trisoup instead of those simple blocks? It would look much better.

I've exported all the cave sections as models and I'm hoping to be able to make them more interesting using 3dsmax -
I can them re-import them into the map and replace the existing walls with playerclip

I've started adding bumps and corners to the model cave sections, the models look like this in radiant
and in game its starting to look a bit more natural, imaging a better texture and some more work and I'll have a more organic looking cave... I hope

Add a not too dense fog on the ground...
Perhaps with skeleton models and spikes
