Your previous description of the process was "abstract" and omitted a few important steps, I wasn't personally able to create a similar scene from what you told us. I ended up with a meta compiled looking map and a sad face.

Some questions spring to mind : would this process be used for an entire map or just portions (like a room). What image sizes are you using to get those results.

You can easily use this on an entire map. The whole process of making a map has few extra steps and they don't interfere with others.
Image size of the light map is exactly the same size as the texture that is being applied on the model.

Take it slow Xan. There are literally thousands of tutorials out there on max. I suggest you go to youtube and watch few "3ds max basics" tutorials. They will explain all the main stuff, interface, building geometry, applying materials and so on.

Hey Del remember that house?
Del wanted CMM to make a halloween map and this house was something i made for it. Unfortunately we never got around to finish it.

Rest of the screen shots are from my first "real" map. ut4_sarlat, it's on ice right now, waiting for me to pull my head out of my ass and finish it.

that looks pretty sick Rayne!
you're so talented!

You should dedicate yourself from your head to your toes on a map and finish it!
I'd like to see more maps from you
