Hi guys, I've introduced myself before on the old .net forum and the URT forum. I had an idea of doing a lego map-- at a similar scale to the WOP or 1up Christmas special maps. I don't know if this has been done before...Anyway, here's a small template/proof of concept I drafted in radiant

If anybody has any layout ideas that are arena-style (ie not realistic towns, locales) feel free to contribute

I've eyed some of the ones on Del's site

I like the idea man, and as for arena type layouts id just check out some maps, get ideas from there, and do some brainstorming. Here's a good site for arena-esque maps (which could also be your inspiration for layouts)-
http://lvlworld.com/Also, a good resource for arena mapping-

If you're doing a lego map, I think it would be really cool if you were faithful to what lego pieces actually look like. Would make it all that much more "neat". And I think a good scale would be to imagine the urt player being the size of a lego man.

lol I KNEW someone would catch that. I scaled it so urt player height=lego man height...but connectors on top worked out so it was 5 long instead of 6. well...maybe this is my way of saying that the grown-up world isn't all "even x even"

Yes, I will make it faithful.

I neglected to bring my legos with me to college for reference!

but yours is better already
I do believe I've found my niche

To cellshade or not to cellshade?
Here's some more development:
Players spawn at east and west, between stair cases. The pathway/stairs are a balcony over the field. Along the balcony will be a few 1 x 5 brick fences for cover. At the top left and bottom right corners lead "outside" to a staircase which leads to the "roof" where there will be openings to drop down below/to balcony/sub-roof. In the middle will be some kind of structure/obstacle a la rctf maps
