New gameplay concept

Hey Guys, It my first post on the site! I've been mapping for about a year, however i wasn't doing REAL mapping, i was only making an Icy Jump map, which I dont think can really be considered as real mapping. Anyway I did most of the work in creating Icy Galaxy.

I have had an idea though... well its not really my idea, its more of an idea stolen from the ever popular counterstrike. IDK if any of you have played counterstrike, but they have a form of trick jumping called surfing. Its more like icy jumping than anything else, however its really nothing like it. However They have maps and servers where there is a set of trick jumps with a TDM gameplay element. The way it works is you start out with only a pistol and a knife, and have to do trick jumps to get to where all the good weapons are. The more difficult the jump, the better the weapon. Then once you have gotten your weapon, you teleport to a standard Deathmatch map. The players then commence in a standard deathmatch game. if you die, you respawn back before the jump element. If you fail any of the jumps, then you are instantly teleported to the deathmatch arena with only your pistol and knife. The jump elements would incorporate both Icy and Non icy jumps. The floor and elements of the deathmatch arena would allow weapons to fall through the floor so that they could not be picked up after a player dies.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, some jumps would be separated by team however some jumps would at least allow both teams to see and shoot at each other.

IDK if anyone would be interested in playing this type of a map though... so I figured i'd throw the idea out to the community and see what kind of response I got.

Imo you should ask on the urt forums, this is a mapper forum not a gamer forum. So you might get bad results here because everyone will be like "nah I wouldn't play it I'm too busy mapping" :p Sounds interesting though

I'm curious as to your answer for this as well... if it's anything like a spruced up "Gun Game" then you may need to edit damage parameters (somehow haha), because theres not necessarily a ton of variation as far as "uber weapons" and suckish ones in UrT. Just knives, pistols, shotguns, smgs, assault rifles, snipers, grenades/launcher... as far as i know :P

And what weapond is best depends on the map and what each of the players are used to.

So i guess the only way to get an awnser to this is by a pool in the urt forums wher you get as many as possible to vote for theire favorit weapond if there isent such a pool already

Maybe u could get more stuff depending on the difficulty of the jump.
Harder = More Stuff (primary, secondary, pistol, Nades, laser, etc..)

oohhh i like this idea! This would work. However I was thinking that the teleports at the end of the jumps could take you to some better or worse spawn points in the deathmatch map...
