China Gora

Post by johnnyenglish »

Currently very much a pre-alpha but I thought I'd start a topic about this map.

Ecirbaf had an idea to build a map based on the theme of the ChinaGora in Paris

When I saw this I thought mon Dieu!!

There's not much progress at the moment, though Ecirbaf has made a lot of amazing textures the original layout isn't quite working and alternate layouts aren't working yet.

I've been working out scenery in the skybox - making a lot of test maps and learning a little more about map making.

I'll keep updating this topic as we make more of the map - Ecirbaf has been making really nice pre-fabricated parts for the hotel.

Time will tell. But skybox is sweet.

I will wait for alpha :)

lol - the bus station map got as far as a pre-alpha BUT, it's available on the LAN at my work and I see most days that they're playing that map in their lunch hour. They could play anything but I think the map is slightly addictive to them now.

I will finish it but my timeline is now to finish chinagora - release le_ballon_rouge_HD - finish bus station then work on the uss enterprise map.

I've still got a great idea for three maps which play in rotation, I've got the theme in my head but I need to make a B3 plugin to control the map - it will play either map1 or map3 depending on the result of map2... if you see what I mean.

Eventually I'll extend this to 5 maps if the idea works - then perhaps 7 maps.

If you're willing to use a modified server I could look into doing that in the server code.
But if you have B3 running anyway that's probably easier, I just hate Python lol.

Oo, I'm a bit scared to run a modded server - I hate python also, perhaps that's a good reason to learn it.

I've not even started looking for textures yet so it's a long way off.
