Water doors

Post by RedSnappa »

I set up entities so that a player can hit a switch on a floor and raise the water level in a room, by making the water brush a func_door. Only it doesn't work that way. The water brush moves as it should, but the actual water level stays where it is. The end result is that a player is breathing "underwater" at the top of the old water level and is unable to swim up to the new water level in the room. Can this be fixed somehow?

Make the room move down instead?

I think it's the same problem I have here
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=453
I noticed first the brushes go up, but I'm unable to walk on them (as in the video); when they move to the original position I can walk on a invisible elevated floor :/

Try making them move in the opposite direction and then using the start open flag.

That just creates the opposite problem. I am thinking that this can't be done :(

Yah... The only other way I could see is that you have the floor be the door that lowers down...

Hey so I just tried making a water door that came up from the floor and it worked just fine.... not sure exactly what the problem was with yours??

Here is a vid of the room I made:

Good. I am underwater when I activate mine, which might be the problem. Can you send me a map file of what you have so I can get a better idea of what might be wrong with mine?

Sure.

HERE is the pk3. I had to package because the water textures were from my map and not from zpack

I am still having some issues with it. I think it is more of a problem when you want a low water level to high water level setup, rather than having water in a room versus no water.
