You should increase the sun intensity. If you're not using q3map_skyEXT in the shader, do it - it provides much better lighting. You can also decrease the _lightmapscale on the worldspawn, 0.125 will take very long to compile but provide much better shadows. 0.5 is good for a start
Edit: Are you playing on increased gamma? If yes, stop.
